Morris Minor 1000

Our Morris was first registered in 1967 and purchased by our team in full working order 41 years later in 2008. The 1.1 litre straight four will produce 48 horse power pushing up to a top speed of 78mph in 35 seconds. When the car was new.

This Morris was built in Cowley, Oxford - the site of the Morris Motor Company's plant is now the location of BMW's Mini assembly line.

In spite of its age our trusty car still runs well, albeit not at motorway speed. Even in the sometimes arctic climate of Oxford the Morris starts every time and so far only the name badge has fallen off. We are working on sprucing it up with modern comforts for the journey such as seat belts and maybe even some way of playing music...

We have teamed up with two further adventurers who will be driving another car - we will be collaborating on charity fundraising efforts, hopefully driving in convoy and inevitably having endless arguments about whose is the more reliable, attractive and generally better car. These intrepid fellows will be driving-

Volkswagen Polo MK IIF

Our fellow adventurers will be setting forth in a 1991 Volkswagen Polo Fox. With its 'vintage' early 90s interior and mismatched blue door she might not be as much of a looker as the Morris but this Fox promises to provide time-tested German engineering and reliability. In theory.

Equipped with a 1043cc straight four producing 45 HP and with a 0-62 time of 20.5 years the Fox is no speedster but is in the right ballpark for very dull drag races with the Morris.
